A slicer is a visual tool for filtering the data displayed in your reports. It provides a simple, interactive way to focus on specific information by selecting criteria such as dates, categories, or values.
When you choose an option in a slicer, all the visuals on the report page update to show data related to that selection. This makes it easier to analyze particular aspects of your data. Slicers are especially useful for creating more dynamic and customized reports.
For example, the relative-date slicer allows you to filter the report data to a date range relative to today:
In Cubu, when you click on a part of a chart, other charts on the page can automatically update to reflect that selection.
This is called cross-filtering (showing only related data) and cross-highlighting (highlighting related data while keeping all data visible).
It helps you easily explore and understand how different data points are connected.
Drill-down allows you to click on a chart element to see more detailed data, moving from a summary view to a more specific level.
Drill-up lets you move back to a broader view, reversing the process. This feature helps you explore data across different levels of detail, such as moving from yearly sales data down to monthly or daily figures and then back up again.
When hovering over the chart with the mouse, buttons for "Drill-up", "Drill-down", "Go to the next level", and "Expand all down one level in the hierarchy" all will appear if a visual support drilling down or up.
For example, the following chart shows the number of cases for each month.
Clicking "Expand all down one level in the hierarchy" will drill down to daily level:
